Confidence building

I just wanted to let you know how well I got on making the speech at the wedding at the weekend, check me out in the picture attached! I was like a natural up there and as soon as I had the first laugh out the way, I felt so comfortable I could have stayed up there all night.

Even before I didn’t feel anywhere near as nervous as I expected to and I was really looking forward to it. I can definitely feel the effects of the therapy in other areas too and feel much more confident at work.

What is self-confidence? Is it having a permanent grin, a bone crushing handshake and making lots and lots of eye contact? Is it never feeling uncertain or nervous about anything, ever? I don’t think so. The word “confidence” comes from the Latin “fidere” meaning to “trust fully”.

So being self-confident simply means that you can trust yourself fully. Even when things are uncertain, you can feel comfortable with that uncertainty.

Having confidence in yourself makes life more enjoyable, and it makes you more attractive and fun to be around. It isn’t about intimidating people, or arrogantly trying to impress them. It’s about feeling very comfortable with who you are and what you do.

When you have that basic trust in yourself, an interesting thing happens. Instead of self-consciously trying to control everything, and desperately avoiding making a mistake, everything becomes easier, smoother and more relaxed. Even if something doesn’t go the way you wanted, you can take it in your stride, knowing that whatever happens, you’ll be okay.

Hypnotherapy is the ideal way to learn this kind of confidence, because true confidence is not something you can consciously create. People who make a great deal of effort to look confident are just imitating confidence. True confidence is about consciously letting go, and genuinely trusting yourself to do well.

Hypnosis is the simplest and most powerful method for calming and relaxing the conscious mind, so that you can develop this kind of instinctive trust in yourself in a powerful and lasting way.
